The principal at BVL is Helen Sedwick. Helen began practicing law in 1984 at Pettit & Martin in San Francisco, and then joined Dinkelspiel Donovan and Reder where she specialized in general business representation of entrepreneurs and early stage companies. In 1995 Helen joined Dudnick Detwiler Rivin & Stikker where her practice shifted to representing high net worth families and to real estate transactions. One major project was representing a wealthy family in diversifying its holdings from the stock of a single software company into a substantial real estate portfolio of office and industrial buildings.
Helen joined Cooley Godward Kronish LLP in 2000 where she negotiated and closed hundreds of leases and acquisitions/sales for clients including Menlo Equities, RNM Properties, and Siebel Systems. She advised clients on ongoing issues of real property ownership, leasing and management. At Cooley, Helen also continued to represent high net worth individuals and to work with estate planning attorneys on real estate issues.
In May 2007 Helen founded Bennett Valley Law where she continues to specialize in commercial real estate transactions and representing small businesses and entrepreneurs.
